This post is about something I have said already before but since the ones most affected tend to be our little ones (children), I figure that it is worth repeating.

So what is NN on about again this time? Why is she getting on her soapbox. Most importantly, why is talking about herself in the 3rd person? LOL!

Last year, I shared information that had come my way from a very reliable source about mold (or some other biological matter) being found in a whole carton of caprisonne. Unfortunately, this was only discovered after it had been consumed by a young child who promptly fell in and had to be taken to the hospital immediately. You can read the entire story here.

A few weeks ago, I came across a similar story that had occured after that Caprisonne story. Not in Nigeria, but very similar. The product was also similar to Caprisonne. What these products have in common is that they are not preserved.

This appeals to many many people as they wish to reduce their chemical burden. However, I find that so many things can go wrong during manufacture, transportation, storage and even handling that I wonder if that is an aequate pay-off. To find out how I feel about preservatives in Cosmetic products, read here

Again, being repetitive, my advice is to follow the following steps. It is the exact same advice I gave in the other post, 2 years ago. It hasn't changed at all. As a matter of fact, I am just doing a copy and paste.

  • Give your children juice you prepare yourself. It is healthier and you can whiz up something quickly if you have the right equipment. As a working mum, I know that packet juices are easier but easier is not always really easier, if you know what I mean.
  • If you must drink packet juice or eat anything out of a can, pour it out so that you can see what you are drinking/eating.
  • Move away from processed foods as much as you can. It is still possible to prepare most things from scratch, quickly. The time you would have saved not doing so may not be equated to time spent in hospital due to the associated illnesses that can occur – obesity, hypertension, diabetes. We all know that processed foods have been linked to these and more.
  • Spread this information and get your child’s schools involved too.

Let's keep our little ones (and ourselves) safe.

By the way, Gogosqueeze did not handle this complaint well at all. If you are a blogger, enterpreneur or into crisis management, there are a lot of lessons to be learned from how they handled things. Click on the picture to be taken to an article that details this.
