…I started this blog. It has been quite the journey since.
Thanks to this blog, I have had the privilege of coming across many inspiring people. Some I have been lucky to meet. Others, I have interacted with on the inter-web. Here there are no borders, no Visas needed. With one click, I can journey across the world rubbing minds with those that have like interests (and some that don’t).
Thanks to this blog and my demanding and very supportive readers, I have begun a business which, while not yet profitable, looks likely to become so.
Thanks to this blog, I have learnt that I have the capacity to take on even more and do well at it.
I could go on and on but will stop here for now.
I do hope you realize that when I say “Thanks to this Blog”, I really mean thanks to YOU. If you were not out there reading, commenting and demanding (lol!) there would be no blog, no Ahia and perhaps no real direction.
To say a proper thank you, I am giving away some items from my Ahia. I don’t do things by halves so here is what I am going to be giving out.
- Rhassoul Clay (0.5lb)
- Virgin Coconut Oil (5oz)
- Henna (150g)
- Neem Leaves (150g)
- Castille Soap (12oz)
- Small tub of Mango Butter
- Small tub of Cocoa Butter
- A double boiler maker. (for the kitchen chemist)
A winner (only those who have a Nigerian address are qualified) will be chosen at random. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment, critiquing the blog AND stating what you would like to see more of on this blog. Easy, isn’t it? It closes on the 30th of January and a winner will be announced within a week.
Also, for every order placed in the Ahia from now until the end of January, we will be placing a complementary tub of Mango Butter with your order.
Thank you, Thank you. Let us keep doing this.
UPDATE: Giveaway closed. Winner selection on-going …….

AWEsome

Nat
CONGRATULATIONS NN!! Wish you all the best and may we have many more Natuarl Nigerian blog days.
What would I like to see?
More reviews and info on home grown/produced hair and skin products. Africa has a lot that we (her chilfren) can benefit from. The problem is lack of knowledge. So, I’m hoping you can do more posts on Naija herbs.
Vanessa Okwuike
Ahia is doing a giveaway!!! Yay!

Thanks for putting out such a nice blog showcasing Nigeria and our heritage. Its a mine of information. One thing I’d like to see more of – Pictures! of:
1. natural hairstyles and links to them.
2. more how-to ‘recipes’ of natural hair products.
3. Showcasing Nigerian industries & individuals who manufacture such products.
Happy 2nd Birthday NN! To many more great years ahead!
(Btw, tried to post this comment from my mobile and it kept giving me an error)

New to this blog,so no comment:)but really hope to win something;)

Congratulations on blogging for 2 years. I love your blog and I would love to see more articles from guest bloggers or naturals or those who chemically treat their hair about their hair journeys! Kudos!
Suleiman Jemila
Congrats NN,u have rily inspired us the naturals In different ways..I wanna say a big thank you. This blog is doing well but pls I tink it would be very good if you can upload some videos about natural hair so we can stream live on this blog instead of going to Youtube. This blog has been helpful. Thanks and best wishes
Abiola
Ahem. I’d like to randomly win the R.Clay if you don’t mind.
You do good work here and I was wondering if you could load your products on one page. Looking it up on my phone which I use 99% is nigh impossible.

Natural Nigerian, i feel honoured to have discovered your website. I have been donning my natural hair for almost three years now. Discovering your site has been a huge source of encouragement.
However, i would suggest that you publish more myths on managing black natural hair. A few days ago, someone suggested that texturizers weren’t relaxers, and i bought the idea (and the texturizer). Imagine my dismay when i discovered that texturizer was relaxer in sheep’s clothing. Thankfully, i haven’t used it yet.
it’s really difficult to criticize such a wonderful blog. All i can say is keep up the good work.
bussy
Yay! would love to see your face, 🙂
Congratz on ur anniversary.
Ooooh one more thing, ur write-ups are rili nice n informative, but I will love to c more colours.
Ese
Congratulations. I get most of my products from you and i am a very satisfied customer.
My thoughts:
1. I would like to see a more colorful and interactive website. The current one is just green white green and serviceable.
2. Would also prefer you to upload “How-to” / “Do it Yourself” videos.
3. Can we also have “Challenges” this year e.g the “Shea butter Challenge”. It could motivate people to stay on track
4. More posts on styling natural hair.
That’s all for now.. 🙂

Ehhmmm, critiquing: I feel as a natural life blogger, you should show us your face/skin, so we would be convinced that this natural lifestyle you have chosen really works for you.
What I would like to see: Ehhhmmm, more science of the way these things you recommend work. I know you can do it, since its your line.
Congrats on your blog birthday. I am especially interested in either the henna or rhassoul clay
Jenny
Need I say you have a very educative blog which has gotten me to start thinking more naturally both in terms of what I eat and what I put on my skin and hair. Congrats on your blogoversary, and I ll want to see more about products you use and how they have worked out (or not) for you.
abby
Hey NN, am I thankful I stumbled on your blog.
I especially took to your blog because you try to do a detailed breakdown of the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of things, giving your readers options on what to do or not. It is very informative and as such, I really didn’t think twice about being an Ahia customer. I have had wonderful service too so in all, thank you for the opportunity to have some measure of control and appreciation for my hair.
I went through your blog in the same day I found it and have followed steps you’ve given to a T. Just bought me a juicer so I can make my own natural juices. Will be trying out Quinoa and the oil-free stew as well. Thanks. You’ve done a lot for me which is why I do not doubt the authenticity of Ahia market products.
I also think I’ll love to see what you look like.
I have my eyes -one eye on each- on the Henna and Coconut oil.
Cheers and happy blog-versary!
LOLADE
Hi NN,
Congrats on your blog 2nd bday. I want to say well done and kudos for keeping at it. Connecting with you via the web and NITC has inspired me to pursue my own interest in natural skin care and I do appreciate that.
I just want to say more grease to your elbow!
Nanya
Congrats on 2 years blogging. I love that majority of your posts are specific to our locale- dont need to share more pics than you want imo but all the information you want to share is helpful- esp info on natural hair friendly stylists/salons too if you have any. Also enjoying the holistic approach to health and hair..being natural as a way of life. Keep that up! Maybe share some of your recipes and details of where to find the ingredients…I try to eat healthy but supermarkets are pricey and I don’t know the markets too well.
Nifesimi
Congratulations on your blog birthday. I’ll like to see more DIYs, and challenges that helps to keep us on track.
There’s really nothing to critique because you’re doing a great job.
onyinyechi
OK…who am I kidding?..there is really nothing to criticize here, you are doing a fantastic job. I love that your blog covers a whole lot of other issues apart from hair and I love your ‘ahia’ , it has been keeping the ingredient junkie in me happy. I thank God for this blog, without it I wouldn’t know you.
I would really like to see more color and more pictures on the blog.
I would love to see you feature people that are trying to live naturally nutrition/hair/skin-wise.
Can you have at least one blog post out every week?
I would love to see diy recipes based on ingredients sold in your “ahia”and healthy food recipes with ingredients that can be easily found in the market (not in ‘oyinbo’ stores lol).
I would really really love to see blog posts of you being more creative with your hair, this is the ultimate challenge.
happy 2nd anniversary.
Folu
Okay done:) critiqued the article Hair 101 …tried to be objective
Natural Nigerian
Hi Folu, read the comment. Thanks for taking the time. You have to leave your comment on this post for it to count towards the competition though…
Samirah
Hi NN,
Congratulations on your 2nd blogversary. I would like to see more hair challenges and i think there should be a bit more awareness on natural hair and skin products, we have a lot of all these in abundance but because people don’t know the benefits they tend to buy the store brands that claim to have these products in them.
Great Job so far.
Ralia
I love the blog and its the first Nigerian hair blog i really ‘connected’ with. It really helped me to realise that the hair products I need are all in my back yard (ok not quite) but I really like that majority of the products are home grown as i’m a big fan of ‘buying Nigerian.’
The only feature I would like to see more of is ‘styling tips’ for natural coarse hair. At work they believe natural hair is unkempt and I would really like to show them that this is not the case!
anfop
I stumbled upon this blog on one of my cyber travels n I hv learnt so much,I absolutely believe u have helped me live a healthier life.thank you.congratulations@ 2yrs.wish u many more yrs.
Adaobi Onuchukwu
I met your blog same week i got my locs and i am the better for it. I now bathe with black soap, wash my dreads with black soap shampoo, oil my skin with shea butter (though i am yet to order some essential oils for my whipped buter). I even met other wonderful natural hair bloggers through you. I can only say more grace to your blog. Expect my orders next month
Folu
Happy Second Anniversary!
Ok, I will say again, thumbs up for this initiative and I was so glad to read your interview on femme lounge today. Thanks for getting word out there about our natural hair, its encouraging.
In the new year of NN, I will like to see more hair styles featured, links to where to get proper hair care for those of us who have a hard time finding a place and good stylist, and lastly, articles from others…hair stories to share and pictures.
fisah
Happy Two year anniversary. I am also two years natural. i would honestly be happy to win this because i never won any contest
Iwajay
Hi, so I’m an official lurker, I probably wouldn’t have commented, but a for a lil problem I have, which is also wat I’d use to kinda critique you(I don’t wanna tho) plus the free stuff is an added incentive. I av a couple of ur pages saved on my pc for future reference, also I av d tendency to ramble and “overtalk”. I love ur blog, I rly do, especially cos u’re not stuck up, u don’t overly criticise relaxed haired peeps like some oda naturals ref: hair doesn’t rhyme with nazi or army, ur blog isn’t only about hair, u touch a variety of topics, all of which are very helpful and informative. from KFC tns to smoothies n all, kudos to u, and more grease to ur elbow. oh and happy anniversary. I also love the fact that u av those hard to get hair thingy’s, herbs and all. So back to the problem. I av rly fine and I mean really fine hair, last relaxer was october last year, I never rly liked making my hair or retouching it anyway, I used to retouch like once a year, buh my hair neva grew beyond a certain length. anywho, my hair is growing now *smiles*. But I’m transitioning and u don’t av any topics on how to succesfully transition or how to handle the two different textures. I just took out box braids I did 2 weeks back, and I tot conditioner wld help loosen better plus prevent breakage. well I shed hair from here to cuba. I’v read all ur posts since the beginning of the blog, and I went thru every post u’ve eva done again, just to find something, but no tips on goin from relaxed to natural. So pleeeeaaasssseee, this new year, include tips for we transitioners. Thanks so much and keep up the good work.
Iwajay
sorry forgot to add this, there was just one post, the one with the Zina saro wiwa video, it was cool and refreshing. I guess I need to clarify, I;m growing out the relaxed part, cos i need to prove the naysayers (mostly family), that my hair indeed can grow and will retain the length. so yea I need ur heeeellllp.
Thank you again.
zainab
BIG CONGRATS! I and my hair were so blessed to find ur site,i so love natural products, though i was sceptical at first about ordering,u cleared all my doubts.
I look forward to reading more from ur blog and ur natural products.i would also like to see more do it urself natural home hair recipes.
Happy anniversary!
E.
Happy 2nd bloggerversary!
My criticism- I’d like to see more ‘Make It Yourself’ posts! And maybe videos.
iphie
Hi, wud lyk 2 congratulate u on ur blog anniversary.
U re doing a great job, nd u av natural products such as rhassoul nd bentonite clays that are hard 2 find in naija, keep it up. But it seems lyk ur blogs re mainly concerned with hair isssues, u don’t really av much blogs about proper care of d skin using natural products so as to help those with skin issues such as acne, eczema, etc.
Also u don’t av much on DIY recipes, the uses of essential oils and their application.
iphie
How do I order products 4rm u, wud lyk 2 buy some. Thanks.
Natural Nigerian
Please read the Order FAQ Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?kp9hczhvy04otm6. Thank you.
Gemma
your blog is really awesome, first time i’ve been on here. well that’s by the way. i just BCd yesterday and this hair is giving me serious low self esteem. it is soo difficult to manipulate, i can’t even go out. i think you should interview a couple of other nigerian natural haired ladies and let them share their hair regimen as what works for one may not work for another. at least we get to try everyone’s methods till we find out what works best. and for some reason, there’s no where to get hair pudding/custard here o. i think you should start selling that too. thank you 🙂
Adedoyin
Thanks Natural Nigerian for making my natural hair journey a worth while one.
With the help of this blog and Ahia, i haven’t given up and it’s been almost one year of being natural. Also the meet ups have helped in every way.
Keep up the good work and congrats on making it to 2 years. May you experience many more great years ahead in Jesus name.
detola
Hey! Congrats and well done. Thanks to you my transition from relaxed to natural hair was interesting. Many times I would want to give up, then I would read a new post from you or other supportive sisters and would be encouraged to go on. Keep up the good work and may your labour of love not be forgotten. Thank You!
Masuka M.
Congrats. Two years is no joke. Keep on keeping on. You are doing great work and your labour is not in vain. With much love from Lusaka, Zambia
zainab
Hi,pls is d mango butter available for sale.
Natural Nigerian
No, we don’t have commercial quantity. This is from my private stash.
Mne
Oh no! 40 comments already?! Oh man! Anyway super, super fine spider webs hairstrands on the line here. Could you please feature a natural with spider web 4c strands? Even just once. Maybe we could connect. It is a neck breaker to have this hair. Great blog!
Notey
Thank you so much NN for writing this blog too. It’s been a huge inspiration in my natural hair journey and for an indigenous blog, it’s done well.
I would love to see more natural hair meet-up. I attended one last year and I loved it. I made a few lifestyle changes after that. I also bought some really cool accessories. I would also like to see more articles about detangling really kinky hair because I have that hair type.
Thanks for being you. Cheers
kamilah
I am new to the blog, so I am learning my way around. Congrats on your success w/ it! I love reading about healthy habits and ways to care for my hair and body.
Funke
i was so ecstatic when i stumbled on your blog…you are really doing a nice work here. I had my big chop last week. and I am really scared cos i want to stop wearing weavon overtime. i want to style my natural hair and i really don’t know how to go about it, despite the fact i am a guru when it comes to permed hair.
Although i have watched YouTube…et al, but i still get scared deep down.though i market natural hair alot!..i tink i am bookish wen it comes to natural hair…i am nt really practical or should i say i get scared of bin practical.
so what i want your blog to improve on is
1.hair styles videos and natural product to achieve styles
2.hair type, cos i really dont know my hair type, m confused#smiles
3.where to buy natural hair products in Nigeria
Thanks.
Damilola
This is a relly gr8 blog, the one blog I can say I visit most often, It’s’really helped me on my natural journey and helped me meet other natural to inspire me. My only advice: don’t stop blogging so ppl like me can keep benefitting from u.:D
Acharacha
Hello Natural Nigerian, one of the great pioneers of all things Nigerian (African) blog, thumbs up girl!! So your blog has so far been a bit informative, however I hardly see your own pictures.
I would like to see visuals of some of the things you have tried and how it worked or didn’t work for you. I can only remember seeing your trial of curl formers and your box braids.
I also believe that for your readers to connect with you a lot better, a picture of you wouldn’t hurt.
I like your blog and how organised it is so far, but visuals would make your readers connect better with you.
Sandrine
Bon anniversaire!
Congrats and best wishes!
It was good to meet you in Abuja last time.
Natural Nigerian
Je me rapelle toi et ta fille! It was good to meet you too. Thank you.

God bless you, more grace to you.

Natural Nigerian, thank you for all the info on this page. I will like to see more info on how to grow natural hair healthy and long. and some natural diet as well
