Natural Nigerian Black Soaps

Black Soap (called Ncha Nkota in Igbo or Ose dudu in Yoruba) is a popular West African cleanser made by cooking plant oils like Shea Butter and/or Palm Kernel Oil. This oil/butter is cooked with ash made from burning plant materials such as cocoa pods or plantain skins. The results - which vary from artisan to artisan and even region to region within a country - is a brown-black, crumbly soap that is a superior cleanser.

Natural Nigerian Black Soap base comes from a very small scale woman owned factory in Southern Nigeria. They use traditional methods of manufacture passed down many generations.

Our Black Soap products run the gamut from baby washes (no essential oils, pH balanced, contains the famous Red Acalypha leaves amongst other things) to a clarifying Shampoo that contains salicylic acid which helps with an itchy scalp to aromatherapeutic black soaps that have generous quantities of different essential oils in them to help you relax or wakes you up. There is something for everyone.
